DRIVING
DIRECTIONS
Nature Camp is easily reached from Interstate-81. Find Exit
205 (Raphine), midway between Staunton and Lexington. Take Rt
606 east to Steeles Tavern (1.5 miles to the first stop sign
at US Rt 11); turn left on Rt. 11, and then immediately right
on Rt. 56 east. Drive 1.6 miles to Vesuvius, where you will
turn south (right) on Rt. 608 (this turn is in front of the
small Vesuvius Post Office, and immediately before Rt 56 crosses
railroad tracks). In 1.9 miles, you will cross the railroad
tracks; continue on 0.7 miles, and take the first gravel road
to the left; this is marked as Nature Camp Trail. When the road
forks, turn right, and drive into Camp.
If
traveling from the south...
Take
the Fairfield exit from I-81. Turn right (east) at the end
of the ramp. Drive to the first stop sign (US Rt. 11), and
turn right (south). In the middle of "old" Fairfield,
turn left on County 710 (Red Hill Rd.). This turn is not well
marked. Take 710 to Co. 608 (South River Rd.). You will cross
Borden Grant Rd. (go left at the first stop sign and then
immediately right to stay on 710). Turn left at the next stop
sign, on Co. 608 (South River Rd.), and drive just under 4
miles. Look for a gravel road to your right, marked Nature
Camp Trail. After about 1/3 mile, take the right fork, following
sign to Nature Camp.
